For years, Xbox gamers have needed to shell out money for an Xbox Live Gold membership if they wanted to play a game online with friends and/or strangers. Xbox recently announced that things are changing. Now, if you want to play a free-to-play online game with your friends, you do not need Xbox Live Gold to do so.
