Weta Digital released a cool video in which they show off the VFX work that they created for the David Lowery directed film The Green Knight. This is a beautifully made film and the visual effects that were created to bring this story to life were absolutely stunning. You can now see how that was accomplished.
Weta Digital’s contribution to The Green Knight focused on atmospheric landscapes and strange characters, including a race of mystical giants and a talking fox. Our team used matte painting and traditional compositing techniques to honour director David Lowry’s surreal medieval vision.
It’s fascinating to see how the effects are broken down and the balance that the creative team found in typical compositing techniques along with the traditional matte paintings in order to craft the beautiful picturesque scenes in the film.
