Lionsgate recently announced that they will be moving forward with Saw XI, and I assumed the creative team behind the recent films would return to develop it, but that’s not the case at all. The writers of the past three films, Jigsaw, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, and Saw X will not be returning to write Saw XI.
Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger have confirmed that they will be handing the reins off to a new writing team. Stolberg said: “Pete and I are sitting this chapter out. Very excited to see this one as a fan of the franchise. I think people will be pleased with the team.”
I don’t blame them for not returning. After Saw X was released, good luck to the next creative team to try and do something different, unique, and good with the franchise. Lionsgate should let this franchise sit for awhile and not do anything with for a few years, but they are jumping right into it and we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Saw XI will be released on September 27, 2024, but there’s currently no word on who will write the sequel or who is directing.
