According to Deadline, The Underground Railroad actor Aaron Pierre is set to voice a young Mufasa in the upcoming prequel to The Lion King. Also actor Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Luce, Waves) has been cast to voice the character Taka, aka Scar.
Academy Award winning director Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) will be helming the prequel to Jon Favreau’s The Lion King. The untitled prequel will “further explore the mythology of the iconic characters, including Mufasa’s origin story.”
Disney is calling this a “live action” movie, but they will be using the same photorealistic animation process as The Lion King. Jeff Nathonson (Catch Me If You Can, The Lion King) will be writing this prequel. The music for the film will be a collaboration of Hans Zimmer, Pharrell and Nicholas Britell.
There is no release date given for the film, but will be keeping you informed as soon as we get the information.
This should be a fun film to see. I would love to see certain aspects of what went on at Pride Rock before the events of The Lion King. Especially exciting for me would be to see how Scar developed into the lovely, brother killing individual he was. Are you interested to see this film? Let us know what you think.
