Travis Kelce made a surprise cameo during the 49th season premiere episode of Saturday Night Live during a sketch that poked fun at his very public romance with Taylor Swift.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, caused a frenzy in the audience as he suddenly appeared on the show – which was hosted by SNL alum, Pete Davidson, 29, following the end of the WGA strike late last month.
The humorous skit kicked off as a Fox NFL Sunday pregame show, with comedians Kenan Thompson, Mikey Day, James Austin Johnson, Molly Kearney and Devon Walker taking on roles as hosts – with Davidson later also showing up in the skit.
The group was preparing for the game against the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the New York Jets. ‘It’s week 7, and if any Taylor Swift fans are watching, the Chiefs game was on Thursday, you just missed her,’ Thompson began.
The hosts shared a laugh, with Mikey’s character, Howie Long, stating, ‘Listen, sorry Swifties, this is a show about football. It’s a sport. Ask your dad.’

‘All right, all right. Let’s get into the game and stop yapping about Taylor and her little boyfriend,’ Kenan added. However, everyone else at the table suddenly let out small gasps of shock, while also muttering, ‘Woah.’
‘Boyfriend?’ Mikey Day asked. ‘Hold on there, no one said boyfriend. Let’s no jump to conclusions here.’
James – who played Jimmy Johnson – added, ‘Yeah, yeah. They’re hanging out. They’re taking their time, and I think that’s great.’
Kearney, who portrayed Terry Bradshaw, stated, ‘Jimmy, I really have to disagree. She’s in the luxury box hanging with mama Kelsey, knocking back cocktails with Deadpool, folks, they’re official,’ referencing to the Chiefs vs. Jets game where swift brought along her A-list friends, including Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.
James then responded with, ‘Hey, I’m just glad it’s not Matty Healy,’ referencing to The 1975 frontman who the Grammy winner was briefly linked to in May. ‘Oh! Don’t say that name, no!’ Day yelled.
Devon – who played Michael Strahan – then added, ‘Hey, look, I just want to say whatever it is, I want to say to Travis Kelce, from one Super Bowl Champion to another, this is a way bigger deal than the Super Bowl.
He then warned the Chiefs tight end, ‘You cannot mess this up. This is very delicate.’
But James didn’t agree. ‘It’s so early. You’re treating it like it’s Joe all over again,’ referencing to Swift’s relationship with Joe Alwyn that ended in April. ‘That won’t end well. Didn’t you listen to Karma?’

Wow! Suddenly, Travis appeared on set, causing the audience to let out cheers and cries of shock and excitement
Day added, ‘What? Karma’s not about Joe. Are you insane? Not everything has to be about Joe.’ Kenan cut in as a debate about her relatioship with Alwyn began to heat up.
He then began conversing with the sideline reporter, Kenny Ditullio, who was played by Davidson. When asked what the ‘mood’ was on the field, he answered with ‘devastated’ due to Taylor being absent from the game.
However, Thompson asked why he assumed the songstress would be at an Eagles vs. Jets game.
‘What do you mean why? Because there was a rumor online she was coming to cheer on Travis Kelce’s brother Jason who plays for the Eagles. Duh. So far, no sign of blondie. Wondering why I’m even here.’
Kenan then asked Pete to describe the matchup, which prompted him to begin to analyze Taylor at a past Chiefs game. ‘There’s a lot going on here. Look at Taylor’s eyes. Look at the thumbs up. It’s a love story, baby!’
Frustrated, Thompson ended the interview and the hosts began discussing grabbing tickets for her Eras Tour movie and debated who was the biggest Swiftie.
Kenan then began to cut to commercial, and announced that he would ‘speak with someone who actually wants to talk football.’
Suddenly, Travis appeared on set, causing the audience to let out cheers and cries of shock and excitement. ‘Yes, please!’ he said while talking into a microphone as he stood on the ‘sidelines.’
