reveals her worst date, fitness routine and diet

Body+Soul meets the cast of ladies gracing our screens for The Bachelor 2021.

Did you change your diet before going on The Bachelor?

Definitely not. I like to keep fit and generally eat well. But I certainly did not starve myself before entering the mansion. I wanted The Bachelor to meet the real me, not an unsustainable, slightly skinnier version of me.

What does a day on a plate look like to you?

Generally, I’m a pretty healthy person and like to know I’m giving my body what it needs to be healthy. But sometimes my body needs cheesecake and champagne too!

I like to start my day with lemon juice in hot water; breakfast is usually a smoothie or steel cut oats (peanut butter is not optional!); a latte mid-morning to kick start my afternoon; lunch can be anything from leftovers, to a massive salad, a hearty soup or a salad sandwich.

I love a sweet treat so 3:30-itis is fixed with a bliss ball; dinner is often salmon and greens, a stir fry or a healthy veg-packed pasta with a glass of wine; and dark chocolate and peppermint tea before bed.

What’s the most extravagant thing you’ve done for love?

I think this is a bit of an obvious one but applying for a television show is certainly the most extravagant thing I’ve ever done for love. It’d be pretty hard to top that one!

What helps you get in the zone when you’re really nervous before a date?

I am such a pop princess – I think it stems from being a dancer for the majority of my life – so, before a date, you will usually find me dancing around and getting ready to some boppy tunes.

There’s nothing like a bit of Top 40 to make you feel happy and excited! In all honesty, I don’t usually get too nervous before a date. Dating is so much fun in my eyes – even if the person isn’t ‘my person’, I enjoy getting to know new people and learn new things.

What’s the worst date you’ve ever been on? What happened?

I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad date. I’ve certainly been on dates with people I haven’t been romantically interested in, but I always try to make the most of the date and, at the very least, learn something new about a new person.

What’s the most extreme thing you’ve done in the name of health and wellness?

I think the word ‘extreme’ when it comes to health and wellness is a dangerous thing. There is a lot of pressure on young women to be the perfect version of themselves and I have definitely fallen victim to that in the past – who hasn’t!?

My health and wellness plan is all about feeling fit and strong both physically and mentally, and enjoying good food and wine so as to not suck out all the fun and joy. Although… there was this one time where a friend and I tried different diet fads, choosing a new one each week. My favourite fad was the one we made up – going to local Melbourne cafes daily in search of the ultimate flourless orange cake!

Do you have any wellness rituals you swear by?

Smiling and laughing. I’m a ‘glass half full’ kind of person (often to the annoyance of the other women in the Mansion haha) and try to focus on the positives in life. Where I can seek fun and laughter, I will – it keeps my heart happy and my eyes bright.

What does a typical week of exercise look like to you? What’s your approach to fitness?

I really enjoy exercising so I try and move my body every day. I have a very active dog so, rain, hail or shine, you will find me walking her every single day. Outside of that, I like to exercise 4+ days a week, with Pilates, weights and HIIT being my go-tos.

What are the simple things you do for self-care and to look after your mental health, why are these important to you?

My career can be incredibly busy and stressful, so prioritising self-care is a must for me. I’ll make sure I move my body each day as it always makes me feel happier. At the very least, it’s a walk around the block or along the beach with my dog.

I’m also an extrovert and gain my energy being around people so I make sure I see my family and friends a few times a week. And I always enjoy a DIY pampering session at home – face mask, nail polish and a glass of wine while watching RuPaul’s Drag Race!
