‘She is fighting for her life’: My Three Sons star Dawn Lyn, 59, in a coma after undergoing brain surgery – as star’s former cast members urge fans to ‘pray for her’

My Three Sons star Dawn Lyn is fighting for her life in a coma after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor, reports TMZ.

The  former child star – now 59 – shot to fame aged six as Dorothy ‘Dodie’ Harper-Douglas on the CBS sitcom’s last three seasons, a role she played from 1969-1972.

Dawn’s condition was revealed on social media by her former co-stars including Stanley Livingston (who played Richard ‘Chip’ Douglas) and Tina Cole  (who played Katie Miller-Douglas) – with the actors urging fans to ‘pray’ for Dawn’s recovery.

Stanley wrote last week: ‘Just found out my little TV Sis’, DAWN LYN (Dodie), is in a COMA and fighting for her life. She had surgery recently to remove a brain tumor. 

‘Please pray for her to have a swift and full recovery. I took Dawn out to lunch a couple of months ago. We had a great time reminiscing about our MTS days. Dawn is one of the nicest human beings I have ever known. 

‘Thoughts and prayers also go out to her husband, John, at this time. This is devastating news!” 

Tina wrote: ‘My heartfelt prayers go out to my “My Three Sons” sweet “lil’ sis”, Dawn Lyn (Dodie) and her husband John. Dawn is fighting for her life after undergoing brain surgery.’

Lyn’s brother, actor and musician Leif Garrett, 60, told the publication: ‘My sister, Dawn, never wanted anyone to know about the surgery. 

‘Since it has been leaked on social media, I would really appreciate everyone’s understanding that it has already been a difficult time having lost both of our parents and a cousin recently.’

‘Please just keep my sister in your thoughts and prayers and respect our family’s privacy. Thank you.’

My Three Sons, starring Fred McMurray as dad Steve Douglas told the story of a widower who raises his three children with his stepfather and the children’s uncle.

 The series won a Golden Globe for Best Television Show in 1962.

Dawn began acting aged four when she appeared as an American Indian boy in the 1967 B-grade western Cry Blood, Apache at age 4.

In 1969, she played Prudence Everett in the pilot for the ABC series Nanny and the Professor but when the television pilot did not initially sell, she was released from her contract with ABC.

Lyn also appeared on shows including Adam-12, Emergency!, Marcus Welby, M.D., Barnaby Jones and Gunsmoke.

In 1971 she played  Gregory Peck’s character’s daughter in the film, Shoot Out, and had a leading role in a 1973 episode of Mannix.

Her last onscreen acting credit was in the 1978 Wonder Woman episode ‘My Teenage Idol is Missing.’ 

Dawn quit acting in 1977 and was last known to be working in real estate.
