Matthew Wright’s ponytail looks longer than ever on This Morning

Matthew Wright showed off his ponytail on Tuesday’s episode of This Morning, which appears to have grown longer than ever. 

The TV personality, 56, has long sported a minature ponytail for his appearances on the ITV show but the star has since grown it out.

Matthew was joined by Vanessa Feltz to discuss the topics of the day and had his ponytail styled into a tight plait.

The journalist sported a black blazer and matching trousers for the appearance along with a white shirt.

Matthew’s ponytail has previously drawn the attention of his This Morning co-stars during previous appearances.

On one occasion, Matthew left Vernon Kay and Josie Gibson in hysterics as he sported tinsel in his ponytail.

As Josie complimented Vanessa Feltz’s sequin dress, Matthew couldn’t resist showing off his glitzy ponytail while cackling.

Josie said: ‘He’s tried to keep up with Vanessa with a tiny bit of tinsel in his rat’s tail.’ 

Matthew responded: ‘It’s got a little bow in it too’, with Vernon adding: ‘It says prog rock.’ 

During another appearance, fans of the show compared his look to the clip-on ponytail famously worn by Only Fools character, Rodney Trotter, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst, 59. 

Matthew was on This Morning during that episode to debate whether the Covid vaccine should be mandatory, and whether tea towels should be ironed… but it was his ‘do that stole the show.

‘Is that a clip-on ponytail?’: In another past appearance, viewers compared Matthew’s look to the clip-on ponytail famously worn by Only Fools character, Rodney Trotter, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst, 59

The look definitely seemed to be done by choice, given that the rest of his hair appeared to be freshly-trimmed.

Rodney Trotter famously wore a clip-on ponytail to meet his girlfriend Cassandra at her flat, in scenes which were aired in 1991.

But when she tells him she doesn’t think ponytails are cool, he unclips it, but she later screams, mistaking it for a rat.

During the February show, Matthew said he only ever irons the fronts of his shirts when making a TV appearance as that is the only visible part.
