Ken Kelly, legendary metal album cover artist and world-renown fantasy art painter, has died at 76 years old. Kelly is responsible for such art as Fighting The World and Kings Of Metal by Manowar, Destroyer and Love Gun by Kiss, Rising by Rainbow, and even more modern albums like Ravening Iron by Eternal Champion.
“We are saddened to hear of the passing of our brother Ken Kelly,” said Manowar in a statement.
“No words can express what a terrible loss this is, not only for Manowar and the metal community, but for the world. He was a great artist and friend. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.”
“Deeply saddened by the passing of the great Ken Kelly,” added Manowar bassist Joey DeMaio. “He was a giant and will live forever through his art and the memories he left with those who got to know him. I will never forget our years together. Condolences to his family.”
