A private testing lab at the centre of 43,000 potentially wrong PCR results has been closed and thousands have been told to get retested.
NHS Test and Trace is investigating reports they received negative PCR results despite testing positive on a lateral flow.
The possible false negatives were taken between September 8 and October 12. Officials say it is ‘an isolated incident attributed to one laboratory.’ Most tests were conducted in Southwest England and Wales.
NHS Test and Trace is working to contact all people who could still have the virus.
