InteleTravel agents reported a significant rise in sales of luxury overseas holidays as consumer confidence starts to return.

In August 2021, the group’s UK top 20 agents achieved sales of £357,576 – a rise of 17% on August 2019, a comparable period as restrictions were in place last year.

On average, each of the top agents sold £17,879 worth of bookings to destinations including Europe, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.

The top individual sales for August were a £31,999 booking to the Maldives, a £26,700 sale to Greece (both for 2022) and a £25,527 booking to the south of France for 2021.

InteleTravel UK director Tricia Handley-Hughes said: “Even with the current travel restrictions in place, this demonstrated that our agents continue to be proactive in creating new sales pipelines with high yields, supporting the research which indicates customers are spending more on their holidays this year.

“The business model continues to attract new recruits into the industry with a new approach, which in return brings new customers and generates good revenues.”
