If you’re a fan of tabletop RPGs and history, check out the new podcast History Check. This is a podcast from Jonathan Creager where he explores the history of tabletop RPGs by looking through their rulebooks. So far, Creager has explored the original edition of Dungeons & Dragons from 1974, and the latest episode dives into Basic Dungeons & Dragons from 1983.
History Check is a podcast dedicated to exploring how tabletop games feel to a new player and how they have developed over time, all through the lens of the primary sources on those games, their rulebooks. We have a specific focus on earlier games, but we will follow many of those games into their more modern editions. We just released our episode on the players manual from the Basic Set (specifically the BECMI version for all the Basic Set fans out there).
Fans can listen to History Check on Anchor, Breaker, Google Podcasts, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, and Spotify.
