Disney+ has announced that they are giving viewers a fun Christmas present this year in the form of an early release date for its most recent animated feature, Encanto. In 2019, the streamer released Frozen II after having only hit theatres the month before at Thanksgiving, and they are following suit this year with the musical family film Encanto.
This was one of my favorite movies this year, and it definitely lands in my top Disney favorites. The music is so beautiful and the story is fantastic. If you didn’t get a chance to watch it in theatres, I definitely recommend you enjoy it this weekend on Disney+.
The film stars Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Mirabel, the only member of a Colombian family without super powers bestowed by their magical house. It was directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, who previously directed Disney’s animated hit Zootopia, with original music by Hamilton scribe Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Encanto hits Disney+ this Friday, December 24th.
