Cate Blanchett was the epitome of elegance on Friday evening as she turned heads on the Zone Of Interest red carpet at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival. 

The Academy Award-winning actress, 54, brought her Hollywood glamour to France in a black-and-white dress, with a cape flowing out behind her. 

She opted for typically subtle make-up including light blush and a rosy lip, while her platinum tresses were neatly pulled back into a bun. 

Her unique ensemble stood out with two sequined silver pockets, allowing her to rest her hands, while a belted waist emphasised her slim frame. 

Meanwhile a small slit up the side of her dress added some practical movement while also remaining stylish.  

She was joined by other A-listers including Natalie Portman, who dazzled in a strapless and glittering ombré Chopard dress. 

The Star Wars alum, 41, showed off her taut visage and enviable collarbones in the classy ensemble as she led the stars arriving on the red carpet.

As her dress was strapless, Natalie chose to accessorise with a tear-drop style choker necklace to further emphasise her slender neck.

She put on a very leggy display in the short ensemble, which exposed her toned limbs and added inches to her frame with silver heels.  

She radiated beauty as she posed for the cameras but did appear to get caught in her skirt as she attempted to climb the steps.  

The Zone Of Interest, which premiered for the first time on Friday at Cannes, is directed by Jonathan Glazer and is loosely based on the 2014 novel by Martin Amis. 

The synopsis reads: ‘An Auschwitz commandant and his wife strive to build a good life for their small family in a pavilion with a garden not far from the camp. 

‘When a mutation comes to threaten everything they have built, his wife refuses to leave the house of their dreams.’ 

It stars Sandra Hüller, Christian Friedel and Ralph Herforth.
