Netflix is in early development on a live-action Pokemon series and Joe Henderson is attached to write and executive produce. Henderson is the co-showrunner and executive producer of the series Lucifer, which is coming to an end with the upcoming sixth season.
The series is in early development and while there are hardly any details to share, the report says that the project would be “a live-action series akin to the Detective Pikachu film starring Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith that was released in 2019.”
I hope that Netflix and Henderson are able to create and great series that the fans will enjoy and appreciate. A lot of fans seemed to have enjoyed the Detective Pikachu movie, so if they manage to capture what they did with that film in this series, Netflix will probably have another hit series on their hands.
Henderson is also currently developing another series for Netflix, which is an adaptation of his comic book Shadecraft. He also previously worked on shows such as 11.22.63 at Hulu and Graceland and White Collar at USA Network.
