Sony is making some news lately. President & CEO of PlayStation, Jim Ryan, recently announced that they’ve entered into a new partnership with the popular communication service Discord. If you’re not familiar, Discord is a free-to-use service that allows people to create communities and chat rooms that allow for text, voice, and even video chatting. I use it all the time when I’m gaming with my friends and I use it weekly while playing Dungeons & Dragons. It’s a really great tool that people have been flocking to more and more especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a recent blog, Ryan mentions that the two companies are entering into a partnership “connecting Discord with your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network.” It appears that they want to integrate more PlayStation experiences on Discord, so possibly a way to share your screenshots/replays directly to your favorite Discord servers, but the actual details are very sparse. What do you think is going to come from this new partnership?
