Exclusive: Kevin Dillon confirms Entourage creator considering revival!
It’s been five years since audiences last saw Vinnie Chase and his boys make their big screen debut with Entourage and while future plans initially seemed dash by the film’s lackluster box office and critical reception, star Kevin Dillon has confirmed to ComingSoon.net that fans’ desire for more of the hit HBO comedy may soon be met!
While chatting with the Golden Globe and Emmy nominee about his role in Josh Duhamel’s forthcoming directorial debut, Buddy Games, Johnny “Drama” revealed that after multiple talks with series creator Doug Ellin to continue the gang’s story, the 52-year-old Emmy nominee has swayed towards Dillon’s way.
“Isn’t that just a great show for a pandemic,” Dillon asked with a bright smile. “He and I are actually going to record the next episode of our podcast, Victory the Podcast, together after this with Kevin Connolly. I’ve been working on Doug for months and finally, he said the other day, ‘I’ll start thinking about a reboot or revival.’”
Leading up to the film’s release, the cast and Ellin were all on board to return for more, with the series’ creator even telling Vanity Fair at the time that he was ready to make “20 sequels” if given the opportunity, though the film’s modest box office numbers and mixed reception from critics made the franchise’s future unclear. While some have expressed uncertainty on if the show would work going into the future, the cast still have all remained adamant that if the offer came their way to reunite for more, they’d say yes in a heartbeat.
Created by Ellin and first premiering in July 2004, Entourage centered on rising movie star Vincent Chase as he navigates his way through the entertainment industry with his boys, manager Eric “E” Murphy (Connolly), best friend and unofficial driver Salvatore “Turtle” Assante (Jerry Ferrara), brother and struggling former star Johnny “Drama” Chase (Dillon) and hot-headed agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven). In its eight-season run, the series received mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, garnering 26 Emmy nominations and 14 Golden Globe nominations with Piven and the series being nominated at the latter every year and Piven winning in 2007 for Best Supporting Actor. Piven also was nominated four consecutive years at the Emmys and won three years in a row from 2007-09.
Buddy Gamess set to hit digital platforms and VOD on November 24 and can be pre-ordered herei!
