The Simpsons pays tribute to the films of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki in this episode from about 7 years ago in the episode titled “The Dad Feelings-Limited.” It’s a bit old but if you missed the episode, we have it here for you to enjoy.

The story in the episode sees Homer and Marge Simpson befriend Comic Book Guy and his wife Kumiko, who writes manga. They are debating having a baby, and we also learn Comic Book Guy’s origin story. Nestled in the episode is this wonderful Studio Ghibli tribute.

In the scene, Homer takes Kumiko’s dad out for drinks at a Japanese bar, and they get drunk and stumble out of the bar and into the world of Miyazaki’s imagination. You’ll notice things from Spirited Away, Totoro, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Up On Poppy Hill.
