Dexter Fletcher, director of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, has signed on to direct the limited series The Offer, following the making of the iconic film The Godfather. The 10-episode event series hails from Paramount Television Studios and is set up at Paramount+ with a straight to series commitment.
Michael Tolkin, who co-wrote and co-created the award-winning limited series Escape at Dannemora, is writing and exec producing.
“The show is based on the never-before-revealed experiences of Al Ruddy, the producer of the movie who had previously produced two comedies and co-created the sitcom Hogan’s Heroes. Godfather became known for a turbulent development and production before turning into one of the biggest box office hits of all time, winning five Academy Awards, and earning a place as one of the great films in cinema.”
Ruddy was set to be played by Armie Hammer, but he has parted ways with the project because of his current public controversies.
This hiring will put this series on the fast track, and we should be hearing about casting soon. Are you looking forward to The Offer?
