Big Freedia Calls for Gun Reform in America

The Dog Solution

Big Freedia has had enough of the continued gun violence in America — and once again, she’s using her platform to try and bring an end to it.

In a new video from Everytown for Gun Safety, the nonprofit organization advocating for gun control in America, Freedia shared her story of surviving gun violence. “I was a victim of gun violence; I was shot,” she said in the clip. “It affected my arm, the way that my arm operates, it affected the way that I felt about my community … even just going outside, it took me to a place that I didn’t want to go.”

The Queen of Bounce also took a moment to talk about how gun violence has affected LGBTQ people, pointing out the disproportionate number of transgender women that are targeted with guns. “I’ve been feeling this loss for a very long time in my community, especially in the LGBTQ community as well,” she said. “We’re losing all our different transgender women, we’re losing gay guys, lesbians. I feel it in so many different directions in my community, and I’m just so sick of it.”
