The hype for Spider-Man: No Way Home is exploding, and one of the main reasons for that is because fans are expecting Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire to show up as their versions of Spider-Man. Well, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is here to keep your expectations in check. In fact, because the expectations of fans are so high, the movie may end up ultimately being a disappointment.
There are a lot of rumors out there, and many of those rumors have yet to be confirmed. Now Feige does say that some of the rumors are true, but then also adds that many are false as well. When talking about Spider-Man: No Way Home in a recent interview with Empire, the Marvel mastermind warned:
“Rumors are fun, because many of them are true, and many of them are not true. The danger is when you get into the expectations game of wanting people to be excited about the movie they get, and not disappointed about a movie they don’t get.”
I’ve personally been keeping my expectations in check. I honestly don’t expect to see Maguire or Garfield in the film. If they do show up… cool! If not, I’m not going to let it ruin my experience with the movie. I’m just excited to see what the next chapter of Spider-Man’s entails!
As for the rumors I think are true, I think we will see Willem Dafoe back as Green Goblin and Thomas Haden Church as Sandman. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tom Hardy’s Venom showed up.
The upcoming movie sees Peter Parker team up with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange as they deal with a big issue when they find themselves in a wild multiverse adventure. That includes facing off with several Spider-Man villains from different universes.
The movie is being directed by Jon Watts, and the cast also includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as Flash, and Hannibal Buress as Coach Wilson.
Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
