New Footage of Disney’s “Real Life” Lightsaber Featured in Imagineering Innovation Showcase Promo — GeekTyrant

Next year, Disney is going to unleash its incredible “real world” working retractable lightsaber. We’ve already seen one video teasing it, and now today we’ve got some new footage of the lightsaber to share with you.

This footage is featured in a cool Disney Imagineering Innovation Showcase promo, and it also features some footage of a lot of the other work that the Imagineering team has worked on over the years.

Disney has described the lightsaber as a “Sword Device with Retractable, Internally Illuminated Blade.” I would love to see this thing in person, but the problem with that is, as of right now, it’s only going to be available to see in the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel experience, and that’s freakin’ expensive!

I’m sure at some point it will find its way out to other Disney parks and attractions. I also hope that we will have the opportunity to buy one!
