Olivia Wilde, Spike Jonze, Phoebe Tonkin and Tobey Maguire have joined the cast of director Damien Chazelle’s new film project Babylon. The film is set in the golden age of Hollywood.
We don’t have any story details, but it’s said to be an R-rated movie set in the late 1920s during the shifting moment in Hollywood when the motion picture industry turned from silent film to talkies. It “explores the rise and fall of multiple characters. Around town, the project has been described as ‘The Great Gatsby on steroids.’”
The film has a wicked impressive cast that also includes Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Diego Calva, along with Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li and Katherine Waterston. The movie will also feature Max Minghella, Lukas Haas, Flea, Rory Scovel, Samara Weaving, Eric Roberts, P.J. Byrne and Damon Gupton.
Chazelle is the director behind Whiplash and La La Land and he will start shooting in Los Angeles next week. Paramount Pictures will give the film a limited release on December 25, 2022, before going wide on January 6, 2023.
