With it being Christmas, this week’s retro trailer is for the 1964 sci-fi film Santa Claus Conquers The Martians! This quirky film has earned a cult following over the years.
The movie is set on both Earth and Mars and it tells the whimsical story of Martians, who are concerned about their children’s lack of joy and happiness, so they decide to abduct Santa Claus from Earth to bring Christmas cheer to their planet.
The film features a colorful cast of characters, including Kimar, the Martian leader, and his bumbling crew, as well as a pair of Earth children who stow away on the Martian spaceship. Together, they embark on a delightful and sometimes absurd adventure filled with humorous encounters and festive spirit.
The film’s production value and special effects are laughably dated, and the dialogue is ridlulously campy, but it’s one of those obscure films that has a certain charm that some audiences enjoy.
