Omicron impacting EasyJet bookings – TravelMole

EasyJet has seen bookings soften already due to the uncertainty of the Omicron variant.

It has impacted near-term bookings with restrictions being imposed by countries.

It’s too early to tell how it will develop, says CEO Johan Lundgren.

“We need to see how things settle down,” he said.

The airline posted pre-tax losses of £1.14bn for the financial year to 30 September.

This is up on the previous year loss of £835m.

It expects to be operating at about 70% of pre-pandemic levels by the second quarter.

“We are very conscious that shareholders of all airlines have had a rough ride during the Covid pandemic and we will be straining every sinew to create real shareholder bounce back in coming years and to take the company beyond its previous peaks of performance,” said new Chair Stephen Hester.

“I’m convinced there is a bright future for easyJet and look forward to helping that be realised.”
